If you’re undergoing treatment to receive a prosthesis at Nevins Dental Center, Dr. Amini-Salari will perform pre-prosthetic surgery to prepare your mouth for the procedure.

About Pre-Prosthetic Surgery

Your full or partial dentures will be placed on the bony ridge of your jaw, which will need to be the correct shape and size to ensure a proper fit. Dr. Amini-Salari can achieve this through surgery.

You might also need a tooth extraction before your dentures can be placed, which could leave the area beneath the extracted tooth uneven. Dr. Amini-Salari will level and reshape the bone to ensure your new dentures fit comfortably and securely. She may also need to remove excess gum tissue or reduce your bone ridge.

After care instructions

Dr. Amini-Salari will go over after care instructions before you begin treatment. She may ask you to follow a liquid or soft food diet after surgery and may have recommendations for how you should brush and floss immediately after the procedure. Following these instructions will help ensure shorter, more comfortable healing.
